Acerola, also called West Indian cherry or Barbados cherry, is a crimson fruit with smooth skin, which resembles the common cherry. The flesh is juicy, with a pleasant, slightly acid flavour. This fruit is known to contain great amounts of vitamin C. 100g of fresh ripe fruit contain around 1500mg of vitamin C. Natural vitamin C, as that contained in Acerola, is a stimulating vitamin. Its numerous actions (antioxidant, stimulant for the immune system) are very useful against stress and its manifestations.
